Yet they earn more than most farmers, generating $564 million in annual revenues. PETROLIA - It’s cold, it’s wet, and it’s slow, but the 2017 planting season is crawling towards the finish line. Many Western Ontario growers had all of their corn in by May 31, but not soybeans. Some growers had zero beans in the ground. Farmers don’t start losing significant yield unless they plant after June 15....
Supply management still works, says Ontario dairy farmer

Supply management is a set of policies that control the price of products like milk, cheese and eggs in Canada. The longstanding policy has come under fire recently from several Canadian politicians including Conservative party leadership hopeful Maxime Bernier, who is a prominent voice against the controls. The U.S. dairy industry has also complained that Canada's dairy supply management controls are contrary to free-market principles and don't let U.S. farmers compete fairly....
